I think one of the things that makes an eclectic gallery wall arrangement like ours work is a mix of frame finishes but also shapes. I found these vintage round silhouette art pieces at the “Free for the taking” shed at our town dump and snapped them up, sure I could do something with them. These things are ALL OVER eBay. Look here.
I popped the art out of them, gave them a quick coat of flat black spray paint and then trimmed the inside edge in my favorite thing ever – the Krylon gold leaf pen.
I am team black and gold forever!
As I was cleaning up my photo files on my Mac one night I came across these two photos of each of the boys, taken when they were both 20 weeks old. They are in almost the exact same position so I decided they’d make a cute side-by-side arrangement. I LOVE IT! They are so different and it’s just great to be able to see their little faces like this every day, especially since neither of them is in this chunky arm stage anymore *tear*
I love how the circles break up all those hard edges. So much of design is about balancing textures and shapes and juxtapositions. That’s why the circles work! And the fact that they were free makes them even better in my book!
