After massive amounts of purging, killing ourselves packing all weekend and then moving out under snow all day Monday (snow! on April 4th!!!), we are officially out of our house! It will make for a good story in 10 years I suppose, though while it was happening, we were not amused.
It was very surreal to see the house empty and know that in just a few hours, a demo crew would be descending on it. Everyone kept wanting to know if I was excited but really I just wanted a nap and a hot shower. At this point I was just exhausted, physically and emotionally by the whole process and feeling a little sentimental – mostly about the kid’s rooms.
As of yesterday, things were looking very different and I’ll be honest, I am not at all sad about it in these rooms!
How weird is it a. that the chimney angles like that and b. that we discovered a built in pantry in that corner where I STRUGGLED with terrible upper and lower lazy susan cabinets as my only food storage. Sure would have liked those shelves that were hidden behind the wall all these years!
I tried to make this room as pretty as possible but no amount of lipstick could fix the fact the ceiling in this room was sagging and collapsing over the bed. Super comforting to sleep under every night!
Our only full bath where being on the toilet with someone else’s bum in your face as they brushed their teeth was a very regular occurrence. Both the sink AND toilet are jammed back in the right corner. Or I guess I should say were 🙂
Yea…not sad to see any of those go. On the flip side, we are moved into our temporary apartment and actually very comfortable. The boys are sharing a room for the first time which has been fine and they have their own bathroom (which is a major upgrade from our previous situation!) I’ll post more photos soon, promise!
